Pokemon Unite is one of the major games coming to mobile and perhaps will rival the much anticipated Wild Rift, that is if the team behind it play their cards correctly. If The Pokemon Company was the only company working on this upcoming MOBA, we would have had our doubts but with TiMi Studios and Tencent behind it then we have an idea of what to expect.

The best example that we can use as a standard is Arena of Valor, developed by TiMi Studios and Tecent. There is no doubt that Arena of Valor (Honor of Kings) is one of the highest grossing games of all time, according to Sensor Tower. We can expect Pokemon Unite to have much more advantage than Arena of Valor in western countries due to the popularity of the Pokemon franchise.
If we need an example of that then look no further than Pokemon GO. Forbes reports that in its first month since being released, it earned over $100 million while becoming one of the most downloaded game. The hate surrounding Pokemon Unite is not about the game itself but more so about how it was introduced.

Furthermore, Pokemon Unite brings a competitive side to it that can be utilized for mobile esports. Not only will Pokemon fans play it but competitive gamers will invest their time and effort into it. If developed correctly then it can become the perfect mobile esports game in the MOBA genre. While we know that the Pokemon type has no effect on the battlefield, we hope the team behind it can design a complex system that can be implemented strategically by players.
The announcement video does touch on strategy and whether you prefer to approach opponents with short-range or long-range attacks. Moreover, each character has its own special Unite Move which can deal a massive amount of damage. As you play with different characters you will learn how to take advantage of each Pokemon’s Unite Move. At the end of the day, the name of the game speaks for itself and it comes down to teamwork in order for a team to become victorious.

Finally, based on their previous experience in the MOBA genre, we believe that TiMi Studios and Tencent will do a great job on the MOBA side and with the guidance of The Pokemon Company, the game will live up to its franchise. We do expect that the majority of players, whether Pokemon fans or casual gamers, to like the experience that Pokemon Unite will deliver. Of course, we will be cautious about our expectations until we get the chance to test it out ourselves. Stay tuned with our website for the latest news on Pokemon Unite.
