League of Legends: Wild Rift, TeamFight Tactics & Legends of Runeterra

This year, we discussed the possible release of a League of Legends on mobile devices and Riot Games has confirmed the news in celebration of the League of Legends 10 years anniversary. In a much welcomed announcement, Riot Games announced League of Legends: Wild Rift for iOS and Android but two more titles that were unexpected which we will discuss later in this article. League of Legends: Wild Rift will be the same one found on PC but was rebuilt for mobile and consoles while adding a new map to the game. For those that are not familiar with the title, it is a 5v5 MOBA that pioneered the genre a decade ago.

There will be 40 champions from the PC version and more characters that will be added later on. Wild Rift will not be able to cross-play with the original League of Legends found on PC due to various differences in functionality. Each game in Wild Rift is designed to last approximately 15 to 18 minutes since its targeting a mobile audience.

In addition, TeamFight Tactics which was released in League of Legends as a new game mode will also arrive to iOS and Android as a separate game in the future. This is a round-based strategy game which allows you to play against seven other opponents in a free-for-all mode in building the most powerful team that can fight on your behalf. To win is to remain the last team standing. Unlike Wild Rift, TeamFight Tactics on mobile will support cross-play with PC players.

That’s not all, another card game that will be launching on mobile is Legends of Runeterra. If you are familiar with Hearthstone then you know what to expect with this game. It takes place in the same universe as League of Legends. In this game you will be able to explore more of the League of Legends lore.

Finally, these three titles are very exciting since they enrich the mobile esports culture with more games to compete in. Not only will we have League of Legends: Wild Rift but its popular game mode, TeamFight Tactics and LOL-inspired card game, Legends of Runeterra.

In 2020, we can expect to see Wild Rift available on mobile devices while TeamFight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra are expected to be released soon. You can watch the trailer for League of Legends: Wild Rift below.
