Apex Legends: Confirmed For Mobile Devices

One of the fastest growing games in recent history has been Apex Legends. It certainly is the fastest growing game that Electronic Arts has ever released, reaching over 50 million players since its release on February 4th, 2019. Such a successful title will not go without the company behind it ensuring that its taken advantage of on as many platforms as possible.

Although we discussed a few months ago that EA was in conversation with several parties regarding a mobile version of Apex Legends, there is more confirmation now that the game will actually materialize on the mobile platform. We are likely to the see the battle royale game on mobile by late 2019 or early 2020. The game has been confirmed to be in active development and that advanced negotiations are taking place regarding the mobile version, according to EA’s Blake Jorgensen.

Since Fortnite has become available on iOS and Android, it is not surprising that a similar game with such success is coming to mobile. The mobile platform is one of the most profitable platform in the gaming industry and companies are trying to be part of this dramatically growing world.

In a previous investor’s call, CEO Andrew Wilson discussed their vision for Apex Legends that includes cross-play between mobile and other platforms. This means that the mobile Apex Legends will be similar to the console version and not an attempt to profit from a knock-off title.

Finally, Respawn Entertainment promises an improved Battle Royale experience in Apex Legends.
