Yesterday, Epic Games sent out the first wave of invites for Fortnite Mobile. iOS users that were invited got the chance, for the first time ever, to play Fortnite on a mobile device. Friend Invites are still not accessible but Epic Games did confirm that they will be available soon so that those who were invited to test the game can invite their friends to test it as well.

Our team tested the game and it was fascinating to see the Fortnite we know, with all its glory, play on mobile. The visuals were stunning and the game sets a standard, meeting the high-quality graphics found in the PC version. THe environments looked on the mobile screen as seen on any other platform. As for gameplay, it was extremely smooth, thanks to a user interface that was designed ergonomically to fit the needs of mobile gamers.
While the controls seem unconventional you will get used to them in time. For example, on the right side of the screen, you need to double tap to lock in shooting and you can view your surroundings by swiping the right side of the screen. In addition, you can use the left side of the screen to move just as would be the case in most mobile games. Furthermore, switching between crafting and combat can require some time to get used to it but it can be mastered. At this moment, playing on a smartphone is more convenient than a tablet since on a tablet controls are scattered to the edges of the screen and you cannot customise them.

The complaints by those who played the game are minor and are not an issue for the game itself since it is still being developed. The main factor surrounds the need for HUD customisation which is not possible at the moment. However, we are quite confident that Epic Games will introduce that option in the near future. For those who still want to play the game and cannot, we will try to send invites to as many players as possible when we are able to. Finally, you can watch our gameplay demo on the iPhone X below.
